Red Cross Disaster Relief

Good morning fellow Gustavus Snowpocalypse survivors.

This bulletin is to distribute information about the Red Cross Disaster Assistance Program.  See the referenced Red Cross Flyer.

Their first priority is providing shelter and food if you have an immediate disaster-caused need and have been displaced from your place of residence or it has impacted your livability.

The 800 number is a national call center number, but once you make the call you will have a few choices to make but will eventually be directed to the Southeast phone bank operators who will take your information.

1-800-RED-CROSS    1-800-733-2767  (the last “s” is redundant)

After you get through the usual phone tree options, pick the “new disaster” option as you won’t have a case number yet. I believe that is option 4.

Additionally, the Juneau Red Cross folks advised me to tell people to take photos and to keep details to record property damages.  If and/or when the state opens up an individual assistance option,  we will send out additional information.

Thank you all for your patience as we navigate through and clean up from this weather event.
